The hospital can arrange a payment plan. My c-section in Florida was $16,000 plus another $1,000 for the baby. We paid $90 a month for what my insurance wouldn't cover.
And there is nothing wrong with getting help from the state. I pay taxes just like every one else, and with my second child I had medicaid because insurance at my work is $200 a month. Not everyone drives a Ferrari and lives in a mansion. I work hard for what I do have and if I need the extra help, I will ask for it.

Here's the catch with most health insurance policies..... You must have the policy in force for 10 months PRIOR to becoming pregnant or they will not cover it.
The ob/gyn and visits are covered
delivery is covered
hospital stay
prenatal care

wow pretty harsh, we all want the american dream, children house, debts paid, relax, everthing will come in time. you paid those taxes too so if you need it use it just don't abuse it. I had my first at 23 she is now nine we paid for part and then had 2 more with insurance and paid part. you don't have to paid in up front and they don't keep it til it is paid for. just enjoy the time with the little one when it arrives it doesn't last near as long as the bills

Im not sure in Pennsylvania.. but it really depends. If you have a natural birth.. somewhere in the neighborhood of about $5000. If you have a C-section.. it could be double that.

My bill for labor and delivery was over 8 grand, but my insurance covered it.
You're married now. Doesn't your husband have insurance?

This is something you cannot predict. You can never plan on anything going one way or another. You could end up having a c secton or the baby might need extra care. Why don't you call the hospital and ask what the ball park figure is ?
Also....please don't take advantage of the state healthcare system. Thanks!

It is very exspensive, but if you talk to the hospital they can help you reduce the bill and make payment arangments.

you do know what 'help' from the state really is don't you? its all of us who are paying taxes so that the poor and indigent can get healthcare because they cannot afford it...it is not for those who just don't want to have to pay for their children. if you have insurance then pay for it yourself like most parents do. it seems to me its not you getting 'screwed' its you wanting to 'screw' others by them working hard and having them pay for your child. if you aren't grown up enough to handle your finances or pay your own way then you are not even close to being able to handle a baby.
