Facts: 4 years ago put in new windows, 3 years ago new roof
have hot water heat. live in minnesota. newly painted the whole interior
always had plenty of humidity with hot water heat but this year alot higher.
when left for a week came home and it was a slight ordor in house.
only place see anything discolored ever and it was when bought the house in 1990 is in one place in ceiling/wall in living room

Depending on how big your house is, you should get 2-3 70 pint dehumidifiers. (Thats not the capacity, its how much moisture it sucks out of the air in 24 hours.) You probably want to set the humidity setting on them to around 35% at first, so the machines don't overwork themselves, then slowly bring it down to around 25% depending on your personal preference. You can get a great 70 pint dehumidifier that is energy star qualified (uses minimal energy) at your local sears store for around $200. It may seem like a lot, but it is a good investment and it has a 5 year warranty on the compressor. (Don't go for the cheaper ones, they don't work as well and can lead to mold infestation.) try looking in basement if u have one ur house is most likely over insulated that makes pipes sweat and therefore causes damp wet walls inside and therefore u have mold
