I quit smoking three weeks ago after smoking for 25 years but now it seems I want to smoke even more then I did the first few days of not smoking. What can I do to get rid of the feelings because from what I understand it is not the nicotine I crave.

Many people, including one Doctor., have explained to me that smoking links itself to actions, places and feelings in your brain. If you smoke when you're driving, that's a linked action. Chew a whole pack of gum on the way to the store and turn up the radio. If you smoke at your computer, this is a linked place.Put the ashtrays out of reach and place candy or some peanut butter and celery sticks there instead. And if you smoke when annoyed, this is a linked feeling, go out on the porch and count cars until the urge has passed. If you can mentally fight Mr. Urge for 10 minutes, he usually goes away for a while. Key Fact: You MUST recognize the triggers.

i smoked for 20 yrs and quit 1 yr ago i did it with the patches and i also made up my mind i was done for many reasons
1. i love my kids and want to be around for them
2.i smell bad when I'm smoking 3. it costs so much money to smoke 4. i was unable to exercise and could not get in shape i could hardly breath . 5i live in Mich and its to cold to go out side all the time.
just remind your self why you stopped and take a good look at a smoker next time your out and just think how lucky you are to be free of it !!!! and also remeber to ask god to help you he loves to be invited .and i believe hes listening and wants to help.

It probably became a comfort thing for you. kinda like how some people play with their hair when they're worried... Or you just liked smoking (that's my problem, i like it too much)

Congrats on quitting though! (you made it three weeks, don't stop now!)
