pls make a reaction on this...the western model of journalism had not contributed fully towards national development because of its emphasis on the entertainment fucntion of the mass media and its treatment of information as a saleable market commodity.in this both the gov't and people of developing countries are dissatisfied with the western model and have been trying to develop a models they feel would serve their needs and development journalism occur...the primary fxn of devjourn was not merely to keep watch on gov't actions but to promote the dev't of the country...what can you say also in the frrodom of the press???

i agree with the western journalism is geared more toward entertainment. that is what seems to create the biggest interest. unfortunately, what sales is what most will promote.
