i scored a 2160 on the december sats and taken only 1 sat2. my gpa is a 3.6 unweighted but i did really poorly in bio freshmen year and ended up with a C both semester. in sophomore year, though im in a higher math level, i ended up with 2 C's again. my counselor told me that the sat math score balances out my c in math, but it still looks bad. im in asb, tennis, track, mun, and a few clubs.

im interested in many things and as of right now, for college, im leaning a lot towards foreign langauges (french, spanish and chinese), advertising, marketing or finearts (im starting my portfolio next month, hopefully its not too late [im a junior]). nyu looks like a pretty good school for those, but i was wondering waht other schools i am capable of attending becuase my counselor told me those C's are there to bite me in the ***.

First off, congrats on all you have accomplished. It sounds like you are being too hard on yourself. Sit back and look at what you have done, and you'll see the same thing I see. If you got this much accomplished, then why are you going to let a C stop you from going where you want to go. If you really want something, anything is possible. Good luck man.

Don't give up on NYU - the average GPA of admitted students there is a 3.6 according to the Princeton Review. C's definitely aren't good, but most applications give you a place to justify any slips in grades, etc.

As far as other schools goes, I've been looking for completely opposite programs (math...), so I don't really know of any other schools for you to look at, but you should try The Princeton Review and the College Board websites.

One of my best friends has been looking at NYU as well, and she's also looked at St. John's, Columbia, Barnard (which is an all-women's college where you can take pretty much all of your classes at Columbia), and some UC schools. Most of those are also pretty difficult to get into, but I don't think St. John's is so bad.

Good luck!

You still have a 3.6 gpa..UNWEIGHTED. that's pretty awesome. Also, your sat score is good as well! Then, on top of it all, you say you're involved in a few sports and clubs too. You have a good shot at a lot of colleges, dont be hard on yourself!
