Don't believe the hype!
You are what you are, (like popeye says) not what someone says you are (like eminem says).

You can try the political quiz at:
http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html
which can give you a general idea, though I think there should be a more comprehensive solution like this.

Here's one site that has a brief overview of most of the parties:

The most relevant information on any party will be located on their website.

Republicans for the most part believe the same thing that the American businessman believes: The bottom line is the bottom line. In other words, what matters is what is profitable. While this may make sense when you are running a business, or even trying to manage your own finances, it may not be the best approach to all problems, and often is not. Democrats try to do what is right, even if it is not profitable. On issues like the environment, gun control, civil rights, workers rights, etc., it is pretty obvious that their positions come from this basic idea.

One party is more liberal than the other...basically. One wants to up taxes and hoard the money....the other wants to give extra refunds that people should appreicate, but squanders on wars people are beginning to hate, but agreed with in the beginning. All just basically....the non-consertative against the conservative. The conservative (Republican) is more morally bound to their convictions regarding family values, where the liberal (Dem) is not...like the new morning after pill for underage teens to take after sex to make sure they don't get PG even though the pill is known to be unsafe...the liberals said Yes! Vaccines for the pappoloma virus that is now becomming mandatory for teens before they can attend school this year...that kind of stuff. I know I wouldn't want my 13 year old daughter getting that vaccine for cancer without my permission. Cancer has never been in our family, and we never believed in pre-martial sex, it was as simple as that. I don't think that should be mandatory unless the parents vote it in, do you?

Anyway, I just skimmed the surface.

Liberals believe there should be as much equality within a society, and government is the only entity strong enough to make that happen.

Conservatives believe that inequality within a society is normal and should not be artificially changed. Thus, govt serves very little purpose.

In general, Democrats believe that government has a positive and constructive role to play in the lives of its citizens, including such areas as health care, environmental conservation and education. And, in general, Republicans see government as evil, unless it is protecting us from "evil" (as defined by them) or from ourselves. They would prefer to devote as much of the budget as possible to the military (and military contractors) and leave health care, environmental conservation and education up to the free market, churches and charities.

how people are acting now is not how it always was. it's really bad right now, but i think it'll settle down again in about 10 years. But one party generalizes american life in one way and the other party generalizes it another way. it's all B.S. it's a game.

Generally, historically, and objectively speaking.....cause I am a middle of the road person (Independent)......

Democrats are for........more social programs, more government involvment, less expenditure on military, pro environment, higher taxes, pro choice (abortion or no abortion).

Republicans are for......fewer social programs, smaller goverment involvement, more expenditure on military, pro big business, lower taxes, pro life (no abortion).

Over the history of these two parties their views have changed, particularly in the early 1930s during FDR's Presidency.......but the things I listed are generally how each party associates itself.

It's two parties trying to keep the other straight, when one does something indifferent, they make sure everybody knows about it and this game goes on and on. It's like if we can't do good, then we will make the other look bad ...........

Republicans don't want Saddam Huessien to take over the world, and Democrats don't care and think were just going to war for no reason.
