They're one in the same. Religion tells people how to live life, politics is how life is going to be lived.

You mean like George Bush did in the last two elections? The answer is a resounding YES!!! I have no problem with people worshipping who or what they want - they can worship a rock for all I care. But, don't try to force your religion on to me. And that's exactly what Bush tried to do in the last two elections - force his religious beliefs upon the American people.

From the 2004 debates:

Question: Who would you consider the greatest philosopher of all-time? (What this had to do with the election is beyond me)

George W. Bush's Answer: Jesus Christ - followed by a rather lengthy explanation.

Jesus Christ was NOT a philospher Dubya!! He was a teacher and was viewed by his fellow Jews (yes, he was Jewish for all you anti-Israel bigots) and by the Romans as somewhat of a troublemaker and revolutionary. And what was he teaching? Adhering to the Jewish law set forth by Abraham and Moses - assuming the Bible is correct which it may or may not be since it wasn't written until long after his death by people who had no association with him - but was he a philosopher? No. Yet somehow Dubya made that connection, interjected religion into the debate at that point and scored points with all the red-necked Christian Conservatives he was wooing.

Relgion has no place in politics and those who interject it into that arena are weak on the real issues. Dubya has shown us over the past 6 years how weak he is on the real issues. Let's hope the next election doesn't feature religion as a talking point but instead focuses on the real issues at hand.

Yes. It is highly unfair to many people. Including one religion into politics would mean that every religion should be included into politics. After all in America people do have the freedom to choose their own religion. Therefore I don't see anything wrong with removing "Under God" from the flag of the United States of America.

Yes, religion does not belong in politics. Look at history, Henry VIII burnt Protestants at the stake for protesting the Catholic Church. One of many reasons why religion and politics should be separate.

Like when they make laws banning perjury, libel, slander, and fraud just because the Bible says "Thou shalt not bear false witness" ?

No, I don't hate that. I hate the nimrods who pretend that religion and politics used to always be "separate" and only in the relatively recent past have those pesky religious-type people started getting involved.

Religion and politics shouldn't mix.

The founding fathers knew that. That's why they included separation of church and state as Amerndent Numero Uno.

Frankly, you are as misguided as most of our politicians. If you had a belief in a power greater than you, you would realize that there is NO WAY to separate that belief from your daily life and you probably would not WANT TO. Why would you want to make all the important decisions without the presence of your God?
