My state of Illinois requires everyone to take daily P.E. in high school. Since I have to take P.E., I am not able to take more electives that interest me. So my problem is that I am stuck in gym doing absolutley nothing like everyone else in the class when I could be learning something. Also, since Illinois has one of the highest fat people populations this gym thing isn't even working, so why can't they just make it only a 1 or 2 year requirement? Are there any ways to get out of gym.

Well, your gym class may not help the fatties, but you really
need some form of physical activity at your age--and beyond.
If you don't get that blood moving you won't be able to do
very well on what you want.
If you really want to know how to get out of it, you need a
doctor's prescription giving a VALID reason why you should
skip gym. You sure would have fun on the basketball or
baseball team tho. I felt the same as you do, but I ended
up loving baseball and got a lot of home runs.

P.E. is a required graduation requirement for high school, but there is a way to waive it, if you have a physical disability or involved in a varsity sport. If you don't have a physical disability or in a varsity sport, you can't get out of it.
At my IL high school, you could take gym as an early bird class.
PE has always been a four year requirement in Illinois.

If your state is like our state ( NY) it is a requirement for graduation. Do you get to choose what you get to participate in? The school system here did that and it made gym a bit more tolerable for the kids. They get to take archery, golf, baseball, wrestling, track, swimming, sinchronized swimming, tennis, cross country skiing, aerobics, biking, strength training, stationary bikes, gymnastics and more. Maybe if there were more to chose from, it wouldn't be so intolerable. See if the school could come up with a better phys ed program.

The such a lot visible rationale is that gymnasium categories is helping one get are compatible. Another rationale that gymnasium categories could also be greater than song categories is that gymnasium categories are much less taxing at the mind. One works one's brain all day at university, gymnasium categories might provide the brain a holiday and paintings the frame as an alternative. Music categories don't present any mind breaks. Though highbrow categories very frequently contain organization paintings, gymnasium magnificence teaches staff paintings and team spirit a lot more frequently. Many movements in gymnasium magnificence frequently contain businesses of men and women. It enables pupils to gain knowledge of staff paintings and to upgrade their social advantage. Students do gain knowledge of those matters in highbrow categories, however extra so in gymnasium.

well, what I did to get out of gym was to spend a year studying abroad in Denmark and then when I got back I told my guidance counselor that I took gym there and my guidance counselor just happened to also be licensed by the state as a gym teacher and so was allowed to sign off on my gym credit.

but legally, at least in Ohio, unless you get a certified gym teacher to sign off on your gym credit, you cannot get a diploma. you can get a doctor's excuse, but then you still have to attend, they just let you sit out. unfortunately, no one at your school has the authority to override that requirement, since it is state law and they can lose their teaching license for helping you to get out of gym.
