I am almost 39 weeks and I had my membranes stripped yesterday evening and I am dilated to 4, I have had the so called "blood show" and two contractions today, but now my back is really hurting about every 15 to 20 minutes and I wanted to know if it's possible to have back contractions and not have them in the front, and if this is true, am I in labor and what should I do? I am a first time mother.

I had almost nothing BUT back labor!!!

your tummy will still be hard like with a braxton hicks just no pain in the front just the back.

When you get to being about 10 min apart call your doctor!

Yes! You may very well be in labor.

Wait until the contractions are 5-10 minutes apart consistently, then call your doctor.

Meanwhile, try to get some sleep. You will need it soon!

Good luck!
