–8x + 8 + 10x = 2x + 1

gather all the "x-terms" on one side and the rest on the other:

-8x + 10x - 2x = 1 - 8 ... perform the indicated add/subtract
(-8 + 10 - 2)x = -7
0x = -7

no "x" will satisfy this condition.

answer: "null set"

You should be having trouble...there is no answer.

Collect like terms first on the left side.

-8x + 10x + 8 = 2x + 1

Simplify

2x + 8 = 2x + 1

Bring letters to one side and constants to the other.

2x - 2x = 1 - 8
0x = -7

There is no number possible to make this work.

–8x + 8 + 10x = 2x + 1 combine like terms
8+2x=1+2x
8=1

There is no solution to this problem. That's why you were having so much trouble finding it.

First, you distribute the 4 into both words interior the parenthesis: 4(2x-3)=3x+13 8x-12=3x+13 next, you upload 12 to each and each and every side to equalize the equation: 8x-12=3x+13 +12 +12 8x=3x+25 next, you subtract 3x from each and each and every side: 8x=3x+25 -3x -3x 5x=25 finally, you divide each and each and every side with information from 5x and the perfect answer is x=5.

1. add the common terms on the left side of equation.
2. Uing subtraction/addition properties, move common terms to one side of equation, ie. separate x terms form constants
3. solve by dividing your x term by its coefficient

Hope that gets you started.
