Maybe because it is one of the best examples of perfect architecture of the Greek classical age. Also, it is leading the vote for the new 7 wonders of the world. Lastly, you cant single out the Parthenon as something people are interested in saving. Most ancient construction preservation has been in the interest of many from around the world hundreds, if not thousands of years. It is an important link to world history and education.

The Parthenon, the Pantheon, the Acropolis and other ancient sites are monuments to humanity, as well as are the sphynx, pyramids of Egypt, and monuments in Mexico and Europe.

Our history is important and deserves to be preserved.
