Definitely agree with a few previous posters, but "The Yellow Wallpaper" is by Charlotte Perkins Gillman, not Kate Chopin. Recommend anything by Chopin, Hemingway, Raymond Carver, Alice Munro, Dorothy Parker, and Roald Dahl.

The Yellow Wallpaper by Kate Chopin
Its about a women suffering from post poartum in the late 1800s/early 1900s who slowly slips into lunacy.
Lots of imagery, foreshadowing and symbolism is clear in the story.

Tamora Pierce edited a book called "Young Warriors: Tales of Strength," which is about teenage warriors in all sorts of situations. Some of the stories are really weird, some are good. Of course, it depends how old you are. The book is directed at preteens and teens.
