For my speech homework we have to find a everyday symbol and talk about it. Example (the peace sign, or peace symbol)

Can have words on it.

Please help me come up with some symbol ideas, and if possible a link on the history of it

Depending on where you live, symbols vary from place to place. Based on where I live, people can simply move their head up a bit and that would mean "What's up?" or "Hey." Another symbol is when you wave your hand away from you and then back towards you. That would mean "come here." Probably the most international sign that everyone in America knows about would be the middle finger. Everyone knows what that means and it's guaranteed that people use it everyday. Also as people start listening to music louder and louder and continuously have careless driving, many will become deaf. Therefore there's the American Sign Language which is common throughout the US. Here's a website to help you with that: http://www.masterstech-home.com/ASLDict.html

I hope this helps. Good luck!
