He wants to go into space! I myself am just a little worried that Prof. Hawking wants to do this, considering the damages that spaceflight could have on his delicate body. Even so, I'd guess someone who's survived 44 years with MND can do anything!

Well, a few good things can come out of this.
If he makes it through, this means that the space launch is gentle enough and that virtually everyone on this planet can go in space.
Then, lets face it, it is a good publicity stunt.
Additionally, Hawking does not know how long he can still battle his disease, and if this is the "joy ride" he wants, who are we to tell him what he should and should not do?
This is a decision to be taken between himself, his family and his doctor, and the last word should be his.

If anybody's earned it, he has. He's written about it all of his life, developed many theories regrding space and astrophysics, and would be a great candidate for the first chartered Space Flight.

They could find a way to make sure he survived the flight by designing a special suit and rrestraints to accomodate him.

He could lose his life but maybe he wants more of a life. The real loss would be to the rest of us. There have probably been less that 50 intellects of his magnitude in the history of mankind.

In my recommendations Stephen Hawking is a God. Hawking: it may be the purely suitable accomplishment for guy if he completely understood the universe, for then we would understand the recommendations of God.

My thought on this was that he has absolutely nothing to lose by trying, and everything to gain if he succeeds.

I say he should go for it, and best wishes to him if he does.
