This question was answered bu the united nations in1957 with the declartaion of human rights, ratified by the nations then signed up. Hope this helps.

I know this runs into what you didn't want to hear. But I think the constitution does a pretty good job at explaining what a person is entitled to. I say that because it defines your rights as pretty much doing whatever you want as long as you aren't hurting anyone else's rights.

Many will argue that to some degree, we don't always have that in this country, but that is indeed the intent of the constitution.

We are entitled to our life, first of all. Any and every society that does not respect human life, perishes, always. The right to live implies the right of liberty, to conduct ourselves as we see fit, for our own benefit. Also implied is the right of property, the right to keep resources that one has acquired to sustain and improve life. Or, as John Locke says, "Life, liberty, and property". Can this be any simpler? Live free or die!

Well, I believe, as humans, we are entitled to respect and freedom. I don't really have a reason. I just think those are the basics.
