Thomas Jefferson was an anti-federalist, first of all. He believed that there should be a very small, if any, central government that had very little power. The idea of "Jeffersonian Democracy" is a democracy where the focus is state's rights and not centralized power. His beliefs directly contradicted those of Alexander Hamilton and the Federalists.

This idea has been proven obsolete over time.
