What are you interested in? Women's studies are always a fun one. Pick a famous woman and basically talk about her. Or talk about a certain example, such as how women have been misrepresented through history. Do something somewhat obscure but still interesting.

Well - it could be argued that any subject is controversial - however - I think a great senior thesis paper could be done on the way Johannes Gutenberg's invention of moveable type revolutionalized human communication and change our world for ever - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johannes_Gutenberg for some information on him. He was chosen by the Historychannel as the most influencial person for the last thousand years.
