What are some ways to transform a regular t-shirt into a "fun" t-shirt?

Basically, I am making a spirit shirt for water polo for my game tomorrow, but i do not want to wear just a regular t-shirt with the glitter letters or iron on stuff, i want a custom looking t-shirt where everyone sees it and is like wow. I want ways to cut it or sew it just interesting ways to make the shirt look unique.

Cut strips on the ends and then add beads so it's kind of like a half shirt with strips hanging, adding the beads will make it unique (maybe the color of your team)

If you're really creative, you could add strips to the sleeves too, but don't cut all the way down (so the cuff is intact), I've seen it done, but I was never able to do this part... practice first. But the beaded part is easy.

patch it up. cut a water polo ball (whatever you call it) out of a random fabric (flowers, polka dots, rtc) and sew it on then get the whole team to autograph the back and write a message and add more patchjes such as smiles and hearts and RAINBOWS AND BOWs. you dont have to get the fabrics to match... the more random the better!!
