roadway lighting.......under the jurisdiction of the local government. changed every so often depending on election period, new elected mayor (thus certain emblems are placed on the lights to signify whose project it was), mmda specified, barangay request, or sponsored by a company.

Hehe... many barangays put up lights over the road spaced every 200-300 feet. these are usually not used because nobody wants to pay for the electric bill.
On the north expressway (NLEX) and South Expressway (SLEX), there is good sodium lighting at all entrances and exits as well as at rest areas.
Finally, somebody must have gotten very rich in a purchase of centerline reflectors. Almost every main and back road has them. They must have bought all the rejects in the world because with luck maybe one out of 20 actually reflects.
Now my pet peeve. Mainly in central Luzon, drivers have a habit of riding at night with no tail lights or brake lights. This is almost as much fun as meeting up (at night) with a carabao, black of course, pulling an unlit wagon.
