IE: click "tools" then "internet options" then on the new small window, top box it says home page. type in your home page with the "http://www......" and then hit "apply".

close all open IE windows and the next window opened it will be that home page.

That indeed is the correct way to set a homepage in internet explorer
tools > internet options > homepage (under general).
try opening a page like yahoo.com or google.com, then got to the homepage menu and select "use current". does the address of the page u opened come in the box? else there is some issue with the explorer or you might not have sufficient rights to change the homepage.

Go to the page you want to set as your homepage. At the top of your screen where you see the address for that site you need to copy it with your mouse. Then click tools-internet options and paste the address in the section for homepage click OK at the bottom of the internet options page. Good luck

go to tools internet options and were you see the address bar type in the web address you want to go to when you start up the web browser

for instance to got to yahoo.com you'd type http://www.yahoo.com

while your there delete all cookies and file

Are you trying to change it back because you got hijacked and can't? If that is the case - download Spybot Search and Destroy and see if it gets that hijack.
