It is an unstable Elemnet. There are so many forces repelling each other that it breaks down and releases particles. There ar 3 types of radiation. Alpha particles are the weakest. These consist of 2 protons and 2 nuetrons. Beta is the second strongest, which consists of a single electron. Gamma is by far the strongest. It is a radiation in the form of a wave, which has a very high frequency. You dont want to be anywhere around Gamma Radiation.
