I would, but the Conservatives are so far from my beliefs that its difficult. However, there are some things I do agree with. For example, I even agree with Dubya - oh my God! - about building a wall along the Mexican border - actually, it should be longer and higher and there should be troops stationed along it. But we all know where they are. And, while I think Bush's war is wrong - I have no problem with the hanging of Saddam Hussein - Daddy should have gone into Baghdad in '91 and taken care of him then. And, if I think about it, there might be a couple of other things as well, but by and large, I'm still a Liberal and proud of it.

I don't necessarily want to agree with them as I think many of their policies are harmful, but I would like to reach some sort of concensus with them about certain issues. For example, don't we all pretty much agree that government spending has gotten out of hand and that politicians are way too easily influenced by lobbyists?
It would be nice if we could work together on a few of these issues, but I'm skeptical about whether that will ever happen or not given the level of corruption of politicians in general and the violent emotions that tend to flare up whenever people mention certain "hot" topics...and you know which ones I mean!

Of course. Total agreement all the time is impossible because it is our life experiences and values and education, etc. that provide the foundation for our political beliefs; no one has an identical life, so no one will have identical politics. Your background may give you perspective and insight that your opponent may not recognize and vice versa.

Yes, I believe in the good old days of civility, before Newt Gingrich got to be Speaker of the House. Those were the days when people could disagree and still be respectful and not name call. But thanks to Newt, and Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter, we have become a very uncivil nation. If you spent any time on Y/A in this section, it is quite obvious.

This is a conservative question because one of the cores of conservatism is to stand by the father figure regardless and attack any evidence that might admit guilt or to simplify conservatives have a hard time admitting guilt.

Simply put-my beliefs are based on principals that I am not willing to compromise for the sake of agreeing with fools.
