ACtually,
Nelly said that she does not really know what "Say It Right" is about, "but it captures the feeling I had when I wrote it, and it taps into this other sphere."

Nelly Furtado
Say It Right

In the day
In the night
Say it all
Say it right
You either got it
Or you don't
You either stand or you fall
When your will is broken
When it slips from your hand
When there's no time for joking
There's a hole in the plan

Oh you don't mean nothing at all to me
No you don't mean nothing at all to me
Do you got what it takes to set me free
Oh you could mean everything to me

I can't say that I'm not lost and at fault
I can't say that I don't love the light and the dark
I can't say that I don't know that I am alive
And all of what I feel I could show
You tonite you tonite

From my hands I could give you
Something that I made
From my mouth I could sing you another brick that I laid
From my body I could show you a place God knows
You should know the space is holy
Do you really want to go?

The verses are a bit confusing but the chorus sounds to me like she's talking about an ex: someone who doesn't mean anything at all but could have mean everything.

Here's a website for people's interpretations on song meanings.
You can add your OWN meaning for a song too.

This is the site for SAY IT RIGHT.

http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=3530822107858605077

Some of people's interpretations:

- I'd say it's about two people attracted to eachother but hesitant to make a move, they both want the other to "say it right" and sweep them off their feet. Meanwhile because of their fears they try to deny the attraction.

- they have broken up. not on good terms. she doesn't know what went wrong and she want's him to tell her, to "say it right." she tells herself he doesn't mean anything to her, but she can't let it go, until she hears it right, and get's closure.... to set her free. and if he doesn't "say it right" she thinks there might still be a chance because she still loves him.

- all or nothing,
you're sure or not..but she's sure for the moment.
and if you don't take the risk, right now,
then you lost a chance, to see who this person really is,
"from my hands i could give you
something that i made"
: love and beauty are things made. they have more thought,
genuine.

Those are just a few. : }

Probably nothing. That girls' music has gone so downhill! I think she's just flipping though a dictionary and pointing at words then writing them down to form cliched sentences. "You either stand or you fall?" "Either got it, or you don't?" Ummm.....yeah. Thanks for the advice.
I miss old Nelly. Then new one's a money grubbing sell out. Promiscuous Girl? There's a good role model.

I was confused with that song too. In my opinion it's like the person doesn't care about you so you better try some other way to attain their affections.

Well I love that song.I think she means treat her right. If you don't she says"You don't mean nothin' at all to me".But I could be wrong.I think she's like talking about her ex or something.

she is telling an old boyfriend "You don't mean nothing at all to me" She is having a hard time letting go of him. She's in denial
