this isnt a question about if i should or not, i already talked to my doc, i am just wandering if anyone else has gone threw the same thing as i am. ok well i will be 36 weeks on thurs, i talked to my doc today about seeing if can be induced soon, because she told me last week that i will deliever early and that as long as i make it to dece 10th i should be fine. well i talked to her today and she wants to do an amnio to make sure the baby will be safe if she comes out now. well the reason i want to be induced is because its just my husband and i that live together, he works ALOT and isnt home much, his job is far away, not REALLY far but a ways, thats not including traffic either. well hes afraid that with me being home alone all the time that i will go into labor and be stuck at home. now my doc said she understands and that if the baby is good then she can do it. but i was wandering if anyone else had been induced before and if so how long did the hole process take.

I had a baby at 36 weeks. He was fine. My longest labor was 5 hours 50 minutes. The shortest so far has been 3 hours 31 minutes. I was induced with all 3 so far. Good luck and congrats on the little one.
Oh.. and yes it is only more painful in the fact that once contractions start they are there. There isn't the slow build up of contractions. They hit and boy do you KNOW you are in labor. BUT... less time.. less pain in the long run. I would NOT want to do it any other way.

At 37 weeks you are considered full term. I have no idea why your doctor would want to do an amnio at that point. Be aware that there are risks involved with an amnio and make sure that it is really needed. The needle can poke the baby and some other scary stuff. I was scheduled to be induced at 38 weeks, but my water broke before the induction day. Then I didn't have any contractions so I was hooked up to Pitocin and it took about 25 hours before my son was born. I had the epidural and it was just fine.

Everyone is totally different-how your body reacts to pitocin. My last baby was induced a week early because they thought she was going to be huge...(she was 9lbs.12oz...early. The bigger surprise was that she was breech, so emergency c-section!) Anyway, from beginning to end was about 5 hrs.
My sister's last labor was brought on by induction. She would not dialate and was in intense labor for 17 hrs before the baby was born...her 3rd baby! They were going to send her home at one point.
Try and wait until your appproximate due date to be induced, if medically possible. If it's a matter of you being impatient, get patient-it's part of being a parent, ya know? Complications are more likely to arrise when a baby is born more than two weeks too early. Good Luck!

the process could take a while i went in the hospital sunday had him on thursday inducing me everyday for 8 hours it's painful not like regular contractions! i really wouldn't do the amnio either could cause infection and a lot of other things! i got induced with both of my kids having the 1st one natral and the 2nd had to have a c- cection on top of being induced so for you go with your gut feeling it's not gonna be an easy or short process. GOOD LUCK

With my first daughter I was induced and I was not ready to deliver at all, what I mean by that is not thinned out or dilated or anything, they started induction, broke my water 4 hours later and I had her 2 hours after that. With my third child I was also induced, dilated to 1 at the start of induction, they broke my water after 2 hours, and 30 minutes later she was hear. I guess it depends on which preganacy. But for my first start to finish 6 hours. Hope that helps, good luck!

8 hours of induced labor before my son was born. I was a week late. Because you are early, it will probably be longer because your body is not 'prepped' for it. I was already having contractions 10 minutes apart and was dialated and efaced a little.

I've heard that inducing is much more painful than waiting for it naturally to occur.

i was induced and it took me 5 hours and 45 minutes,,they tell me its more painful if you go with pains not being induced...why cause you are having your pains in the car or wherever you are and that is why its more painful.
