That is a myth, though many believe it.Hair is dead! or rather what you see outside the follicle is.
Stress can make the persons living hair loose its color but it doesn't happen overnight. Ask any Doctor or even a hairdresser should know.
It is just an old wives tale that has been around for centuries and some people will believe it no matter what proof is given. But they never have actually seen it happen!

NOT simultaniously.
I suppose that it's possible that, from the scare on, your roots go gray(from the stress). But if you look at how your hair grows, and what causes it to color, you would see this is impossible.
I actually threw out a book that I was really enjoying reading because the main char's hair turned white. The whole rest of the book was realistic, except this stupidity...ugh!

My mother-in-law is from Germany and when she was a child her mother jumped out of a 10 story building, she says that when she seen her mother on the street she had a white stripe in the front of her hair, she says she didn't have that before she jumped.

It is NOT possible. Once your hair is outside of the scalp it's dead tissue the same as your fingernails.

What a stupid question, of course not! That's impossible. It can change GRADUALLY due to stress but not suddenly. Hope this helps! I don't mean to be an ***.
