You could say that they are similar, but I don't think Dangerous Minds has the type of plot to "move" someone, but Freedom Writers is the type of movie that "touches" the viewer because of the amount of personal emotion in the diaries of the students. I prefer Freedom Writers to Dangerous Minds.

that's what i've been saying. the only difference is freedom writers is based on a true story. but watching dangerous minds that to could of been based off of a true story. maybe the teacher from freedom writers saw dangerous minds and was like hey that might work...and then it did and they got their own movie.

They are sort of similar but i still wouldnt quite compare the two. Freedom writers is based on a true story. All the students in one homeroom class had their own individual struggle that they would write about in journals their teacher gave them. The students were all divided based on nationality but they all came together in that class because even though they were all different they all had something or another in common whether it was family members who were killed, friends, etc.

this story line never seems to get old. just throw a white teacher or coach into a black neighborhood, consider the kids ghetto, and somehow make them change the lives of the entire community. there are countless movies like this! yes indeed a good observation.

yes it is. that is just what I thought when I saw the trailer!! I compared it to that movie too! The only diff, being the "writer" aspect of the movie.

It's actually the same script, but Michelle Pfeiffer just couldn't pull off late twenty's without a hell of a lot of Pixar magic.

Judging from the trailer, it does seem like the same story with different people. Good observation.

yup. and both are kinda like stand and deliver (the movie) which preceded them both. all three are variations on a theme, but that doesn't mean they aren't all enjoyable to watch.
