Depends..... if it's still got power going to it (fans work, etc) then it's probably either the motherboard or graphics card that has screwed up.

If it's completely dead, then the Power Supply unit (the bit with the big fan at the back where the powercord hooks up) is screwed... cost around £30 - £80 to replace (depending on what wattage is needed in your PC), and everything will work again.

The good news is you can usually transfer the old hard drive to the new PC....... when my old PC went last month, I connected the old drive to the new PC when I need to via an External HDD caddy I picked up off ebay for about £10, and use it like an external hard drive.

Check whether PC and monitor gets power - if yes and monitor works then You take PC to a repair shop. You also check internal connections: that mainboard gets energy (no cable broken) and that RAM and other cards are firmly in slots. btw. Monitor is checked cost free with friends PCs.

After partial breakdown PCs make sounds that tell You what is wrong. These diagnose sounds are listed and known.
They also help when You phone a technician. If You do not hear them? No energy, monitor or total fault & needs technician.

Hit PF1 as soon as your start the PC (I believe it is PF1 Look on your first boot up screen) and click to start in SAFE MODE. See if you can bring the system up and determine the problem from there.

If you cannot do that, you need a PC Repair place such as GEEK Squad or other to look at it, you may have a virus or a hardware problem. They can determine the problem and recover most or all your files.

I saw your previous post. And now that you say no screen is apprearing it sounds like you have an issue with your video card.

If you are familiar with the innards of your computer, you can re-seat the video card and see if that helps.

If not then you will have to take it in to the shop and get it fixed.

Check power connections first.
Still no power ?
Open it up, check to see if anything is loose, if all OK, find small battery on mother board and replace.
Still no power ? Your power source maybe burned out, take computer to a repair shop and have them test it. Shouldn't be 2 expensive maybe $150.00.
