How is the way that women compete with each other different than the way men compete with each other? I mean?

There are child developmental studies that show the different ways in which males and females complete with each other. While males are more likely to be confrontational about their competition, females are more likely to be passive aggressive. Some studies show that women tend to mask their competition by continuing to maintain "good relations" with their competitors. For example, while little boys are more likely to be upfront about their feelings with each other, little girls are more likely to talk behind each other's back.

Another contributing factor may be that males are socialized to be more agressive and to be dominant, which leads them to be more confrontational. On the other hand, little girls are socialized to be passive and to not express "unpleasant" feelings. The studies are very interesting, I'm sure you can find some of them online.

An observation: fifty men can work in an office together and never have a a cross word (of any substance) between any of them for years. Three women in an office -- in less than a week two of the women will gang-up on the third which will set off constant snipping, back stabbing and gossip.

Men compete with each other in a variety of ways : athletics, careers (income), ability to date hot chicks.

Women compete on looks, and that's about it.

Women wont admit they are competing. They are sneakier about it.
Example if 2 guys were fighting over a guy they would just meet in the alley and have it out.
If 2 girls were fighting over one guy they would do things like set the other girl up to look like a tramp or spread lies about the girl.

Woman are really sneaky when they compete, and I think it's a lot nastier too. Girls can be so mean to each other!

Guys compete through, atheltic, hell even plain old fist fights.

Woman, they backstab, and I think that's even worse.
