Well the argument is that Acid reflux is caused by not enough acid rather than too much. So the Vinegar acts as a way of balancing it. Things like Milk actually neutralize stomach acid making digestion more difficult. And some antacids get rid of all stomach acid which is not something you want to do!

When you take the Vinegar it will make you belch. Thats normal. I would not recommend taking alot of it! you know all you need is a tablespoon in a glass of water or juice. Acid reflux is caused by a surge of stomach acid. The surge comes as the body lacks acid and all of a sudden realizes that it must produce acid. the result is: Huge amounts of acid start pouring into your stomach as the body tries to replace what isn't there. Antacids actually are very harmful. Because they eliminate all of the acid. And when you eat the body has to pour in enormous amounts to replace what the antacids took away. Vinegar helps to balance the acid in your stomach.

Well anymore I would be more worried about the motives of the FDA. I'm not saying All Doctors are bad people. I take Apple Cider Vinegar for other things besides acid reflux. To say Vinegar is harmful would be saying to remove just about everything you eat! All condiments contain vinegar! Its the "Cheap Distilled" Vinegar but its everywhere!

You have to have stomach acid! You would not live long without it! I wouldn't have a problem with the antacids if they eliminate "some" of the acid. But instead they eliminate "all" of the acid. This can really put your G.I. tract out of wack!

Yes, it works. What people don't understand, is that acid reflux is caused by the stomach lacking in acid. You add it, and it stops. I've known that for many years and it works.

Chronic heartburn is usually from acid reflux - stomach acid is getting past the little valve and into your esophagus. You also should know some natural ways to treat your heartburn. Learn them here https://bitly.im/aMA2H
The most immediate thing you can do is to stop drinking coffee and cola. Smoking is not good either, but that might be harder to stop. Don't over-eat. Don't lie down too soon after eating. Don't burp too much - this carries acid up with the burp.
heartburn the most common symptom of acid reflux disease (also known as gastroespohageal reflux disease, or GERD). Heartburn feels like a burning pain in the center of the chest. It is caused by acid from the stomach backing up into the esophagus. is a symptom of acid reflux disease (GERD) Also known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

I had acid reflux that was that bad it paralysed one of my vocal cords, gave me sinusitus and caused damage in my stomach, Learn here how I cure it https://tr.im/J34Ha
I was prescribed Lansoprazole which was brilliant but after two years of aching joints, extreme muscle pain which the doc gave me cortisone jags for, with some research I discovered the drug Lansoprazole was causing these rare side effects but it was I who diagnosed it NOT my doctor, I came off the drug 2 months ago, changed my diet and discovered just eating an apple stops any acid reflux, I eat an apple before bed, brilliant no acid, any time I feel the slightest sign of reflux I simply eat an apple.
Apple juice is not that good nor is anything else I have tried including honey at stopping reflux.
Apple is a god send for keeping acid at bay, brilliant!

If it works for you, then great. However, I wouldn't (in general) trust other people's account of an herbal remedy's success, since you don't know their motives.
More importantly, acid reflux is not caused by a lack of acid in the stomach. It is caused by the movement of the highly acidic stomach acid into your esophagus. While something like apple cider vinegar may make you feel better, it may not eliminate the acid - so I would be concerned that you're treating the symptom, and not the underlying problem. People who have acid reflux can be at risk for something called Barrett's esophagus - which is a pre-cancerous condition. If you're having frequent bouts of reflux, I'd encourage you to head to your doctor, and think seriously about medical treatment. Good luck!

My husband and I were just talking about this. He has terrible acid reflux problems, and someone told him to try apple cider vinegar. He tried it just the other day and said it kind of works for a short while. He said that it worked for a little bit, but then he started burping it up. He is going to try it again, but we are not sure why vinegar which is acidic, would help with a stomach that is too acidic. My husband has been found to have a stomach that produces too much acid as well as a loose valve in his esophagus. Well, I look forward to reading the other answers you get.

Heartburn is usually triggered by eating large meals, fatty meals, spicy meals, alcohol, or eating close to the time when you go to bed. https://tr.im/TreatmentAcidReflux
For other people certain foods might cause a problem, tomato, onion, or citrus, for example. You can try to avoid the more common triggers or you can keep a food diary and figure out which items are your specific triggers. Once you know that you can't eat chocolate, for example, without getting heartburn you may choose to eliminate it or reduce the amount you consume. There are many notices and ways to treat your hearburn at home. Read more here:

Yes, it does work. I take it every night before dinner. It has to be organic raw ACV though. Yes, it does taste bad in water, but I've found a way that it actually tastes good. I put 2 teaspoons into a small glass of ice tea.
