Any Biblical name (Rachel, Sarah, Rebecca, Esther, etc.). You could get a good idea by reading books from that time period - I would highly recommend Jane Austen's books.

Which is the Social Security Admin website, you can actually search for popular names by a specific year. Just pick a few 1800's dates, and there you go!

Depending on what part of the country you were in was a big determining factor. Especially after the Civil War Americans were very much following Queen Victoria & her family as far as culture, etc. She had a BIG family, so all her children's names were popular.

If you can push the time just a little, there is another great website: www.thenamemachine.com where you can look at popularity over the last 100 years.

Lastly, my favorite, popular 19th century name is: Cordelia :-)
