Don't worry about it. The nozzle is like the size of a pencil but half as long. I KNOW you've floated logs much bigger than that before.

well, colonoscopy is no fun, but it isn't as bad as you think either. You don't get an enema, but they do clean you out first:) When I had mine done, I had to drink 2 doses of fleet-phospho soda that they sell at the drugstore.....I won't lie, it tastes just awful!!! My sister had one done a couple years ago and had to drink a gallon of stuff over the course of a few hours. I think it's the same stuff, just more dilute. Now this may be good news for you, within the past year, I know of 3 people who had one done and they didn't have to drink anything. They got to take a pill, something new I guess. Either way, it worked the same. No matter how your doctor does it, don't make any plans for that night and make sure you have open access to the bathroom. You will be in there A LOT! That is the worst part of it. They usually put you under anesthesia for the colonoscopy and you won't feel a thing except maybe a little sore in the behind when you wake up. Better a little discomfort now than serious medical problems later! Good luck!!!

My mom and brother had colon tests done, the worst part for them was the Fleet 3 enema, the test was no joy either. With the Fleet, you have to drink stuff that gives you the trots and after you think you're totally clean, you use a squirt bottle in the "back door" for extra cleaning. Get to the doctor's office a little early, in case you have to go the bathroom. Sometimes the doctor will give you a sedative, it makes the process a lot more comfortable (hard to believe, but it does). Wear something comfortable, sweats and t-shirt, sometimes you'll have a little mess on your underwear or pants. It doesn't take long, I think around 30 minutes for the test itself, it's the preparation for the colon test that takes the longest. Hope this helps, good luck.

Ah dahling been there done that over three times...........
My poor papa died of rectal cancer so at age 56 I've already had 3 colonoscopies...........which gives you the undeniable experience of taking the saline stuff for which you will not need to worry about an enema, as you will arrive with a totally clean colon the good news is you won't remember the procedure so the next time you are game to go through it again....one of the small prices we pay to keep Mother Nature from harvesting us too early...YOU GO!!!

I presume you are talking about a colonoscopy. Everyone over fifty should have one. They usually give you a major laxative to take the night before, it can either be GoLitely or Fleet Phospha soda. I don't think they give enemas anymore. At any rate, either of these laxatives will clean you out clean as a whistle! They give you a mild sedation and the test is really not that bad. Good luck.

You may not have to have an enema. Your Doctor may give you a liquid to drink, well actually a jug of it. You empty a powder into the water and have to drink the entire jug. What this does is clean out your system. You may not be able to eat anything but jello and perhaps some Apple juice to drink.
Most of the people I know have had to do it this way and not the er.back door. Hope this helps!

If you're talking colonoscopy ... they don't do an enema ... they give you stuff to drink and a clear liquid diet for a day (no red dyed jellos or drinks). and the combo cleans you out naturally ... you only say colon test and there is more than one, and I can only answer on the one that my mother, father and husband have had ... however the test itself is basically what you're not wanting ... fortunately they do give you a very nice relaxing drug to ease the experience ... it makes you very la la not completely out but pretty darn close as I understand

No enemas when I had mine.
But the stuff they have you take a few days before the procedure is nasty! It does clear you out -- very well -- and that's an understatement.
Worth the exam though, I'd never discourge someone from getting screened.
The only thing that shocked me was the price! No one warned me that it would cost $1000!

Just had a colonoscopy. It's a piece of cake...they put you on a liquid fast the day before the test and during the day you drink a couple of doses of liquid to clean you out. The liquid tastes like swet..it's awful.. but you can get thru it..and you can drink sometning to wash it down. The test is easy..they put you in lala land for about 20 minutes and it's over. i woke up at the end of it and all I felt was some air blowing in me and slight cramping then in an instant it was over. Nothing to fear but fear itself.. I'm glad I did it.Get er done!!

the enema part really isn't all that bad. it's all the laxitives you have to take the day before that's the worst. i've had a couple of colonoscopies and the nurse let me in on a little secret. the hospital i went to gave me an injection of valium and seconal (sp?) when the doctor started to insert the scope, i said "i thought this wasn't supposed to hurt." the doctor stopped and gave me another shot. i went to sleep and didn't feel a thing. i woke up feeling great.

Believe me an enema is preferable to the alternative, which is to drink a gallon of nasty purgative and spend 4 hours sitting on the pot.
