It is still pretty early, only 5 weeks, or 7 in medical terms. I don't really want to tell people yet but I had to call off last week because of complications and I don't know what else to tell them when I return. I told my boss so that he knows what's going on but I'm just not sure I want to tell the world yet. I think I would feel more comfortable at 12-14 weeks.

Then wait until you feel comfortable. However, if you are rather close to a few coworkers, you can tell them and ask them not to tell anybody else. It is always good to have a support group at work, and the way I see it, if something does go wrong, wouldn't you want a few people you can rely on for support? Personally, I told people who were very close to me--just a few people at work and then my closest friends and family. This was at about 7 weeks. I figured if something did happen, I would want them there for me. But everyone is different.

Don't tell them anything. If you feel you cant just not say anything tell them you had thing to handle out side of work. Tell them about the baby when you want to and if your having complications it is probable better to wait until 12-14 weeks.

If you are more comfortable telling them later than sooner then do that! You don't need any extra stress or anything especially if you've already had complications, so just don't worry about it and tell them when you are ready to. It's none of thier business what goes in your personal life, but if you feel you owe them an excuse (which you don't) you can always just tell them you got food poisoning or something like that. just make sure you tell your boss to keep it quiet at work, they often like to share good news like that.

I would probably not say anything yet to the general work populace. If someone asks why you were gone, tell them you had a medical condition that needed to be dealt with - not a lie, just not a full truth. And unless they are close friends, that's really all they need to know.

That's up to you. I had 5 miscarriages and after the 2nd one my husband and i didn't tell anyone till we hit like 12 weeks. I would just tell them you caught a bug that was going around. GOOD LUCK!

Besides my husband, I didn't tell ANYONE until I was into the first week of the second trimester.
I would be so sad if I told them at 5 weeks, and something happened.

I wouldn't tell anyone until you are at least 2 months to 3 months into the pregancy. They dont need to know now so they can wait to celebrate.

I told my work right away. They were far more sympathetic towards me sometimes being late in the mornings (due to throwing up). And less curious about why I was going pee every half hour!

Tell them whenever you feel comfortable. Just tell them that you were sick or had some family problems. They don't need to know everything. If they try to pry just tell them that it is personal.

If you are straight with your boss (who signs your checks)...who cares what everyone else thinks, it's none of their business. You can tell who you want when you want. Good Luck!
