If you go a week without taking your birth control pill, and you have sex that week, what's the chance of you getting pregnant?

Sadly, I'm asking this for my 14 year old friend.

I'm not the one that's 14, that's my friend. I'm the 17 year old virgin. ^^

I know she shouldn't be fooling around with sex so early, and I've tried to explain that to her...

It depends on how much bc your taking and how long you have been taking it and if the blank period coincides with the ovulation period.

You are fertile on or about day 14 and 15 of your cycle, you do the math. Good luck, you both are going to need it if you are fooling around with sex at 14! What ever were you thinking?

14? Amazing... Have she and her husband provided sufficient money, support, shelter, prepaid college, and the other things a child needs before making this otherwise adult decision to risk making another human?
Medically, with this gap in treatment, she needs to restart her pills in accordance with the scheduling of her periods and the instructions included with the medication. This should not be reinstituted until she insures that she is not currently infact and indeed pregnant. Good luck.

Extremely high. You need to encourage your friend to go to the doctor. If she has had unprotected sex, she needs to be aware of possible STDs as well as get a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side. Also, if she is going to continue to be active, she needs to be on some form of birth control or have other precautions in place. Her parent/guardian might need to be involved since she is only 14. Best wishes to you and your friend. Please remember to be cautious and if you cannot, then abstain.

If you skip your birth control pills there is always a chance of getting pregnant and because she didn't take them for a week her chances are probably greater.

It's a possibility. Some of those pills are placebos and are there just to keep you on schedule. But missing out on a weeks worth is bad news.

The chance of pregnancy is high missing a whole week. She needs to see a doctor immediately.
