So what? Watermelons are 98% water. Are you going to tell me they look like a cloud?
You need to start with being careful about making claims that will later fail. The simple fact is that we really do not know nor understand the genetic code, much less how it works in making the organism what it is. You can simply look at a "bonalos" and see that it isn't human, doesn't act human, doesn't have any human capacity. Clearly, that "2%" is everything.
Another part of the problem is that we have more genetic similarity to some non-animal things, which really throws off this whole genetic comparison idea.
Check out A.E. Wilder-Smith for some good stuff on this.

It cannot be done - mostly because of the physical genetics. You can teach a chimp some tricks. He or she may pass some of this knowledge on to a family member. It would take hundreds or thousands of years in this line to finally have one chimp borne close to a human intelligence. And that is only one chimp. You would need to do this with multiple thousands of them for a thousand years or more - but they would only know the "tricks." With thousands of them, they may start to learn and communicate. I would estimate you are looking at 5,000 years to have a couple of chimps "talk" to each other

Bill I apologize first here for contacting you this way although when you reply to controversial issues you should make yourself available for rebuttal .I saw your reply to whats going on in the Philippines..Please think before you reply to a question it makes you seem very disrespectful to a race that in my feelings could be quite superior to ours. They outwork us.are better educated and speak better English than you or I do.We aren't paying for anything. As for freedom..I think you should take a long and hard look.As American there was time to be proud of freedom and compassion and economics but that time has turned south and its almost embarrassing to say you are American.Frankly speaking I can't imagine anyone wanting to come to the US for any reason .There are so many other countries with so much more to offer but there has been generations of myths generated to make the US look like a good home. Also on a note of immigration ..Look back and find that you come from a long line of illegals. I mean who asked our forefathers to come here. They not only immigrated here they took the place over and then suppressed the native people here out of their freedoms and their lands and opportunity so you are like pot calling a kettle black..Please think before answering .I know that nobody knows who anybody is on here.I have to say yes I grew up in and around people that were racist and to this day I think they never took the time to know the people they were condemning and why..I did the something until at an early age realizing that we all are one race..the human race...and every color has strong points and weak points ,they are just as guilty of condemnation as we are because they never met or knew Americans and when they did for the most part changed their views..Its terrible what the media can do to the way people feel or just the actions of a very few finding fault with whole nation.Thank God that everybody isn't like this.and there are a few that find a way to overlook the shortcomings of others..of every color if not we would be in worst situation than we could ever imagine. Also as far as us being powerful I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that sense of power that you are feeling about our nation is slowly going down the tubes...not only ecomocally but strength and stamina. Our forefathers had a great idea unfortunately it didn't turn out the way they thought. We are a young nation and we have made many mistakes ,lets just hope we can maintain any sense of strength and duration for long enough to put us back to shinning in the worlds eyes..If you caught the news about a year ago...and saw new Orleans the way that the world did and you lived somewhere else ,your opinion would have changed..Even the terrorist declined bombing us saying that they didn't have to lift a finger to hurt us we are killing our own people and starving them to death and leaving them in worst conditions than any country in the world.I will leave this conversation now but had to say something to you in hopes that you will rethink your thoughts about the words you placed on the question about the Philippines..If you need to or want to I unlike yourself leave an opening to discuss things further if need be.Come on Bill .. let the world in to have a chance to answer your opinion .Nobody knows who you are nor even really cares but at least don't drop a bomb like that and then hide.. Take care and thank you for letting me express myself..

Will chimps be another species of man in 30 years? I don't think so, they don't degrade that fast...
Chimps are already smarter than humans, they don't eat at McDonalds...

no because we'll kill them before this, and it is not exactly true that intelligence for them is trully selective and succesful, because if they become intelligent they'll be hunted by us and so they might choose a path against their own extermination and therefore and they won't follow exact manner in which man did
