By believing that you are slow you can make learning more difficult. I do not believe you are slow. Each person learns in their own way. Perhaps your way is different than the methods used where you are studying. Is there some specific reason you believe you're slow?
Sometimes there is something simple someone could show you that will make learning easier for you. Perhaps you can ask some additional specific questions and get some good tips. In the meantime here are some ideas:
1. Read whatever interests you. This can be online or offline. The more you read the easier it becomes and reading what you like to read instead of only what you have to read makes it more enjoyable. The more you read the better you will get at every subject you wish to learn.
2. If you have difficulty completing a particular task ask someone who doesn't to help. I had a neighbor who struggled to complete her homework for hours every night. I offered to help. I found that she had no problem reading the information and she knew the answer. What she struggled with was how to write out the answer as a sentence. I showed her how to turn the question into the answer and after that homework was easy for her. Here is the way to do that:
Sample questions and answers:
"Who did whatever?"
__________ did whatever. (The name goes in the blank.)
"When did whatever happen?"
Whatever happened in _________ (Fill in the year or date.)
"Where did this historical event take place?"
This historical event took place in _________ (Fill in the location.)
She knew the answer. She just didn't know how to express the answer as the required complete sentence. By simply using the wording from the question in the answer she could just plug in the answer and easily complete the assignment.
She always thought she was slow. All she really needed was to learn a simple tip. You could ask one of your teachers, or for a tutor, or if you prefer learn more online. There are many sites about how to study. I'll put some in the source box.
Taking tests can be very stressful. Many people are afraid so they do poorly on tests. There are many ways to make taking tests easier. Some find that going through once and answering all the questions you know first will help you get better scores.
When a test is multiple choice you can eliminate the answers you are sure are wrong, then those you think are probably wrong, and then make a best guess from the rest. (I used to call those tests multiple guess tests.)
I thought I would be able to easily locate free online tutoring sites. I do see many online tutors; however, most require subscriptions or payment in some form. This may be because some people feel that tutors must be carefully screened before being allowed to work with minors.

It depends on what you mean by being "smart." There are different kinds of intelligence, like the left-brained analytical type and the right-brain creative intuitive type. If you want things to come more easily to you, expand your horizons. The more you learn, the more that knowledge starts to fit together. Also, be as healthy as possible. When you take care of yourself physically, it will become easier to do well mentally.

First of all lets examine this, We all have our strenghs and weakness take the time for a few minutes to think "What am I good at"
"How can this be used to my advantage"
Seriously I will be flat out honest I am Horrideous at math I mean really bad but when it comes to writing its the exact opposite I do excellent at that.
It is true that we do have a certain nack for certain things
and all of us learn differently
Reading books helps. (HA! who am I kidding I barely read books! lol) but read stuff that interests you magazines same thing just read somethin your bound to find something that interests you) NOTE look into your hobies)
Do crosswords and sodoku
Sorry but being smart doesnt just come to you overnight you have to really want to and deticate yourself to become smarter at stuff which isnt always easy to do...

Take it easy on yourself. Just by wondering why indicates you have potential to learn anything you apply yourself to. The most powerful questions on this planet are WHY and HOW. You've started already. I'm sure you have a Dictionary, start at the beginning and master a word a day.
I also see that your question is worded well. YOU are no dummy.
Who is telling you this? Ignore them. Remember, no one is good at everything they do.

Read around you. look around, do more research.
Learn this lesson NOW: Do not judge yourself based on what you think people around you are or are not. For one thing, you never know what is going on in their lives. The person next to you in AP chemistry who you envy because he sounds so smart, could have a very unhappy life or could have just suffered a great tragedy. Being the smartest in the room does not guarantee happiness. Judge yourself on your own criteria, not in comparison to those around you.

Admitting that you are not smart indicates that you are as you see something amiss and you are going to do something about it.
When you are not sure about something don't be afraid to ask and ask a lot of questions, surf the net, read books that you enjoy. learn about history and learn about you and what makes you tick.
As smart as some of us think we are, we make mistakes and we are not perfect. There is no doubt in my mind that you have a few answers to questions that I do not know.

most of the reason is because you say that you are not. mind over matter young friend! i think the first step to anything is loving oneself. after that, everything comes easy.
also, read books, watch what you eat (chemicals/preservatives tend to warp the mind), and throw away your tv.
