What motivates me (in no particular order) - Art, women, the unknown, the act of learning something new (when that lightbulb goes off), the act of teaching, talking to people that have different points of view than mine.
My purpose - Lilfe is so complex that answering this part of the question with a short and concise answer would be arrogant, but here it goes...
It depends what avenue you're talking about. On a grand scale of things I may not have fulfilled my purpose yet. I may be here to push someone in the right direction in life later down the road. Maybe I save someone's life that finds the cure for cancer. Who knows...On a smaller scale I view my purpose as helping people I come into contact with. Maybe opening someone's eyes to a new way of thinking. I tend to enjoy the smaller things in life and view that as important factor that needs to be considered in asking this question. A large part of me likes to think that all good things come in due time.
Maybe I will never find out my purpose in this life, but I am going to do my best to search for the meaning. Just remember that along the journey adversity will rear it's ugly head and only the strong willed will survive.
P.S. - My responses to the above I feel strongly about and yes it took me a minute to finds the words to express these thoughts, but time nor man does not hold me back from free thinking.

To constantly improve myself. To challenge myself. To keep life interesting. Having a wife, a 6 year old, and an 18 month old helps, but I know that by always growing and changing I'll continue to enjoy life and succeed.

Joy of living, reason for being and the realization that stagnation will not allow us to progress. Another factor is curiosity about all that surrounds us and that we can make a difference in other peoples lives. I make a point of learning something new everyday of my life and In the process attempt to impart what I have learned to others.

What motivates me: Fear of failure. Fear of not leaving some mark behind that shows, I existed. .A well-written book which is engaging, uplifting, enlightening, insightful, tragic, motivates me. Other people's success motivates me. A character who I identify with and respect from a book, tv show, movie, motivates me. An actor whose acting is soooo outstanding that you say to yourself, "he's been there...he knows what it is to despair, lose hope, live a tragic life, suffer a great loss." Belief in my ability to accomplish whatever endeavor I set my sights on motivates me. And finally, not wanting to squander or waste my God given talents and abilities, but to put them to good use, and in doing so, help my fellow man/woman in their pursuit of peace and happiness.

My purpose is to help people who help themselves whatever the stage of life they are in, whatever motivates them to achieve or make their dream come true that leads to their well being and not to anyone else's detriment.

I don't know why but someone loves me very much. That special someone believes in me and no matter how low I get, she's always standing by my side. I don't want to let her down or prove her wrong. She's my motivation.
