I just found out I am pregnant on Sunday and I tried to make an appt but the soonest they could get me in with a nurse practitioner, not a ob/gyn was next wed. Is this ok. Am I supposed to see the doctor sooner? We had unprotected sex in Dec. around my ovulation time. I'm about 4 weeks how soon will I see the ob/gyn?

when i found out i was pregnant i was 2 months already. i made an appointment for as soon as they would see me, which was when i was 4 1/2 months. i didnt accually get to see my OB/GYN until then, so i would say that should be fine.

Most OB/GYN offices don't see you, unless you are having problems until about 8 weeks. That is perfectly normal.

Go ahead and go to the nurse practitioner, let her check you out and then ask her to either make an appt for you to go to an OB/GYN or ask her to refer you to a good one.

A nurse practioner is fine until you get to your ob. Just think about it, some don't go for sev months, or not at all....not that I condone it. You do not need a doctor immediately.

They don't typically see you until 12 weeks. That irritates me! The theory behind it is that they can't do anything for you before then.
