Well I have had Mac's and PC's, most recently Mac's. I have NEVER, EVER, NEVER gotten a virus or trojan or anything that could harm the computer. I have however had SEVERAL problems with PC's.
As far as the "rumor" that there is no software.............WRONG. I run windows, i run microsoft office, and yes for you WOW fans you can even get World of Warcraft. The same software is available you just have to be willing to actually go to the store and buy it.
With the new Dual Core, Intel Chip run machines you can not deny that the Mac are some of the best computers out there right now
And for those who say they are more expensive I offer this test. Pull up the specs on a 24" iMac and then "build" a computer on Dell.com with the same exact specs or sometimes lower because they dont offer the same things and you will find that in most cases the DELL is more expensive or the same price.
So yeah the Mac is expensive BUT you get what you pay for!!!!!

I prefer the PC, However Mac's are good to. The PC has more hardware available for less money and is almost always able to be put in another upgrade and there is a lot of free software out there for Windows, Mac is a proprietary system although the new mac's will run xp or emulate it and if you play games, not all games are configured for Mac's.
and the last thing is price, mac's are pretty expensive but if you are going top dollar for a unit do not rule it out. Does graphic's quite well but so does XP Pro running a apple program written for XP by the software writters for macs. and with the new windows operating system they are beginning to be the same.

mac mac mac mac mac mac mac mac mac!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you count all the Unix and Linux development usable on Mac the amount of (free and excellent) software is simply incredible.
http://fink.sourceforge.net/
There is much more premium software shipped with the Mac.
Mac is fully scriptable.
Mac has access to professional networking tools that are proprietary or nonexistent on PC.
It seems like I can just plug any device whatever into my mac and it just works without screwing around with broken or missing drivers.
Mac generally has better hardware.
Mac does not lock up, nor require to be restarted 1-3 times daily -
[me's-Computer:~] me% uptime
8:50PM up 48 days, 11:14, 6 users, load averages: 0.67, 0.62, 0.55
No anti-virus needed. (What a huge time/money saver.)
Mac has vi - http://thomer.com/vi/vi.html#why
There are less games for Mac.
RE: firefox - http://www.mozilla.org/download.html
RE: music - I have never had any problem playing whatever music I like, in any format.
RE: cost of updating OS - Still using 10.2 from 2002. It's still better than XP is now. The only thing that lags is my 5 year old hardware. 10.3 and 10.4 are the only paid releases possible, so how does that jive with it being 2007? If I had bought a PC in 2002 what would it be good for today besides a paper weight or parking block?

What are u using? I think both. PC is the home of media and entertainment. Most people these days use PC. I have a Mac notebook and a PC. I use my PC at home and Mac for work. Pretty hard getting the hand of getting used to both. With time and practise

PC - Because of speed and accessibility.
The problems with macs is that it's a constant battle with Windows.
Mac didn't want to stick with the standard MP3s that PCs use. They had to use MP4 format for EVERYTHING and don't even offer a free converter on their website.
If you don't plan on sharing files with friends, playing games, installing the majority of new software that comes out (mac software usually comes out months or years after the PC product does), get a mac.
On the flip side - Macs don't get as many driver errors and if you have friends that use macs... Having a mac is just about the only thing you can do to not be pulling your hair out to do things with them computer wise.

i had a Mac for years,, but then they just got to pricey, and i need to hook up to dsl, many yrs ago when it came out,,so therefore instead of tying to upgrade my old Mac,, I went to the PC and never when back.. I am now on my second PC..
The Mac is great if you use it for graphic art work,, because the software they use always worked well..And now with windows,, the PC is pretty user friendly.....
It is a preference,,but in the working world,, most companies use PC,, so if you get a job,, I am sure you will be using a PC...
goodluck...

Macs arent gaming machines and cant handle most windows based things (E.G. you cant play (most) downloaded music use downloaded programs play games you buy at the store or use any software you bought at the store cant play many videos no firefox for mac far as i know few programs support it.) ALWAYS get a pc windows has monopolised the internet and information technologies so much macs are virtualy useless now. (On a side not the macs capable or windows ARE NOT fast they simply arent built for it and dont run the operating system well.)

Mac is crap, due to the lack of software and Apple pushing you a new OS update every year for more than $100. Get a PC and install a Linux distro on it, but I still prefer Windows due to its ease of use.
