Braxton Hicks contractions are the irregular intermittent contractions that occur during pregnancy. They typically begin around the 20th week of pregnancy, but may begin earlier for women who have had previous pregnancies. Braxton Hicks contractions are described by some as a tightening feeling. Some women describe them as being similar to menstrual cramps. While other women describe Braxton Hicks contractions as a feeling of the baby balling or bunching up in one place.

braxton-hicks contractions can start anywhere from 18-20 weeks or later. they feel like a menstrual cramp, usually very mild, but they can get painful, especially at the end. They will not be regular or very long. If the contractions get longer, stronger or closer together over hours, it can be preterm labor and you should check in with your doctor.

Braxton Hicks can go on for quiet awhile. I have had them for like a month, now. My sister said she would almost swear she was in labor for a month before her second child was born. They are usually painless, but annoying. They can feel like a tightening, or like menstural cramps...all women and bodies are different. Go to www.babycenter.com...they have info on everything you could possibly want to know..I think.

They are MOST common in the last month or two before delivery and you will feel your abdomen tighten...like the skin of your belly will feel hard for a few seconds or so. Thats how you know it isnt a 'real' contraction

I had them for all 3 pregnancies. I started feeling them about 3-4 months, and they continued until I delivered. It felt like regular contractions. If you've not had that before, it felt like you entire uterine area cramping up, my abdomen would actually feel harder, like in labor. They weren't regular, couldn't time them. Seem to feel them when I was more active.

Mine feel like tightening of the uterus... your belly gets as hard as a rock and it feels unconfortable, but not painful. I started getting them after 20 weeks.

I began to get them round that point. Totally good enough. As lengthy as there is not affliction related to them. I've heard that so long as it is lower than four in one million hour you're good enough. If they emerge as extra consistent and consistent then name your OB.
