I need help with one that says Determine whether the following reactions show an increase or decrease in entropy? 2NO(g)->N (subscipt 2)(g) + O (subscript 2)(g). I think it would increase and if i am wrong why?

The entropy is the disorder in the system, so a gas is more disordered than a liquid or a solid, in your reaction you have initially 2 moles of gas and finally 2 moles of gas, so is the same disorder state, if there was a change to a more ordeered or more chaotic state then the entropy changes. But, remember in all processes the entropy of the system or the surroundings has to increase

don't hold me to this, but i think it's a decrease i haven't taken chemistry since last semester. but i think when i compound is being decomposed from AB-> A+B the energy level goes down. the choas between the elements decrease, but then my memory is a little rusty, i could have this backwards.

There are two moles of gas on each side of the equation, so the answer should be 'no change'.
