The best way to get parts is to pick monologues that are SIMILAR to what the play is about, like around the same time period. If the play is in the 50s, pick a monologue from Grease, stuff like that. Usually musicals are fun and have superly dynamic characters, so pick something you can have fun with, Shakespeare is usually really hard to interpret exactly what is being said, and difficult to memorize, pick something you can characterize more! Hope I helped!:-]

it is so humorous, you putting forward this. i theory that in simple terms occurred right here in Mexico. properly, it happens all the time; and not in simple terms for musicals, yet for all varieties of theatre. i think it has to do with saving a while averting the reason of plot and characters interior the texts and allowing the actor to accomplish something that he/she would desire to sense actual gentle with. whether, i think of you may't elect an actor utilising this simply by fact everybody finally ends up appearing distinctive genres or varieties of theater and probable in simple terms people who carry out something comparable gets it . I prefer the belief of being "measured" in accordance to the comparable standard (comparable textual content fabric for each guy or woman auditioning for a functionality) and in that way the director can ascertain this guy or woman suits the profile he's calling for. Now, permit's not forget approximately that casting does not constantly remember on super appearing. There is additionally different factors which includes actual characteristics, extra skills, improv means, etc.

OMG!...do NOT do shakespere unless you're trying out for the musical version of Hamlet!....never use shakerpere for an audition....unless you're doing a shakespere play......

Try something from your favorite movie-it doesn't have to be from a musical.....and I'm sure you'll need about 32 bars of a song (16 measures)......So if you need help......IM me...
