(f+g)(1)=(-3x-4) + (x^2)
=(-7) + 1
= -6

(f-g)(3)=(-3x-4) - (x^2)
=(-13) - 9
= -22

First you get (f+g)(x) and (f-g)(x)

(f + g)(x)= f+g = ( -3x-4) +( x^2 ) =x^2 -3x-4
(f - g)(x)= f-g = ( -3x-4) - ( x^2 ) = -x^2 -3x-4

So (f + g)(1) = (1)^2 -3(1)-4= -6
And (f - g)(1) = -(1)^2 -3(1)-4= -8

(f+g) (1)=f(1)+g(1)=(-6)
(f-g) (3)=f(3)-g(3)= -13-9= (-22)

f(x) = -3x - 4
g(x) = x^2

(f + g)(1) =
f(1) + g(1) =
(-3(1) - 4) + (1^2) =
(-3 - 4) + 1 =
-7 + 1 =
-6
