I lived in a crappy apartment back in october where a car was stolen, it was infested with roaches, and so much more problems. Anyway, I just applied somewhere else and they denied me because its on my credit. I can't afford to pay it off ! I have two kids and I need somewhere to live! Does anyone know what options are out there? I live in AZ if that helps?? What do people do to get a place? Cause I know I'm definitely not the only one to break a lease! Thanks

You should have documented your problems and gotten out of your lease legally. I would suggest that you tell a prospective place that you did break your lease and why and not let them just find out about it. Other than that, rent from individual owners rather than apartment complexes.

what you should've done is put every rent check into escrow and notify the landlord you will authorize payment only when he makes all necessary changes. What you did makes you look bad on credit report and doesn't give you a leg to stand on when you file a formal complaint with your local housing authority.
