Just buy the disk to upgrade, since now Microsoft have completely dropped support for Windows 98 / 98SE + ME you can pick the disk up off Amazon.com or eBay for less than £20

However, if your computer can handle it you may be better off saving up so you can upgrade to Windows XP as internet security essentials such as ZONEALARM Firewall no longer support Windows 98 or ME (at least the FIREFOX browser is still compatible, and works better on it than Internet Explorer).

To upgrade the operating system is a software upgrade. If you have no issues running your current OS, you shouldn't need any new hardware to get this new OS to run. You may find it hard to buy Winows 98, so it may cause you to upgrade your hardware to get to a more recent OS like Windows XP.

Since microsoft no longer supports win98, you might have a little trouble finding the upgrade program; but I would try microsoft first, as they may refer you to a 3rd party who still supports it. (I can still find 3rd party support for win3.1!!)

All you really need is a win98SE upgrade disc.

If you have enough room in your computer, just put the disk in and run or install. It should add the programs that you do not have.
