this is what you do:
x(x+12)=0
then make both equations equal to zero
x=0 and x+12=0
so your two answers are
x=0 and -12

Factor out the x. That will leave you with x(x+12)=0. then solve
x=0
x+12=0
x can be 0 or -12.

x^2 = -12x
divide by x both sides
x = -12
