Covert operations are the only solution to terrorism. A formal war doesn't work.
Think of our forefathers who fought hiding behind trees against the redcoat British. I think we seem very much like the redcoats now. We are visible everywhere and the terrorists are hiding the shooting and bombing us with unconventional tactics. We need to be more creative than to just retailiate with a show of force that has proven ineffective.

Because surrendering to the fact that terrorism has always existed, and always will exist, is a better policy then foolishly attempting to eradicate it, and that there are much more efficient ways to defend the US than by bombing third world countries.

first off, I don't believe cutting and running was ever the solution. It was using our brains and not getting into a catastrophic mess like most cons get themselves into and have to get helped out of. As far as terrorism, it won't disappear and it's naive to believe it will. It has been around for as long as I can remember, shows up in history at all points, just in less severe forms (considering weapons have become more extreme and detrimental to society). Look at all the guerilla warfare that has taken place since the beginning of mankind because of religion or other beliefs. If you want to kill terrorism you have to make everyone think and feel the same and that will never happen because people aren't all the same and like the ability to think for themselves. When you try to take that away, kill people because they think differently or act differently, take advantage of the powerless because you can, it comes back to haunt you. It's called karma and all we've ever known how to do is use people for our benefit and because of this they are paying us back for our indiscretions in installing brutal dictators to rule them, killing their family members, taking over their part of the world, and supporting everyone but them (Israelis and Indians [from India of course]). Terrorists aren't in the Middle East, they are from every corner of the world and the reason they terrorize us is because they think we are selfish and uncaring, which generally is true. Think of all of the people we have screwed for our own benefit. I hate terrorism as much as the next person, but the way to battle terrorism is to PREVENT IT from happening here by taking the necessary precautions. I remember a Tactical Officer from the Navy telling me several times: Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. It's something our Repubs should focus on instead of waiting for bad to happen then responding. If you don't recall our wonderful Repub leaders supported both the Ayatollah and Saddam Hussein as well as several other vicious dictators in Central America, etc. Can't get much more sympathetic towards terrorism than that can we? But way to save face by claiming we never liked them all along and actually hated them and that they were evil evil men. You know why this is so interesting, because these republican leaders are generally evil evil men that care about nothing but the money they can take from these corporations that they allow to screw defenseless people, wildlife, etc. At the same time they are trying to show us the moral high ground? You want to talk about how bad liberals have done, maybe you should give me some instances, then you can cry and complain that things aren't being done right by Democrats, if I remember correctly, Sandy Berger warned Condoleeza Rice when she came in that Osama Bin Laden was a major threat and that he needed to continue to be followed and paid attention to. Then the Republicans took their eye off of him, ignored the threat of pilots taking classes on how to take off and not land, and gave up on anti-terrorism measures, using 1% of their funding for defense on anti-terrorism the year of 9/11. You want someone to blame for dropping the ball, look in the mirror and start asking questions.

Judging by the answers being posted by liberals, it's easy to reaffirm the belief that they DON'T have a solution.

well we think we should "cut and run" as you call it from Iraq, which has absolutely, zero to do with terrorism. so your question makes no sense.

"Impeach Bush"
"Stop War"
See, all these little feelgood phrases might sound nice (thats what libspeak does, makes you feel nice, but at a price). They sound good, but they are meaningless, hollow, and destined to fail. Not one liberal shall answer your question directly, mark my words
