Hell, my parents would kill me if they find me with a boyfriend or if I hang out with a guy friend of another heritage (don't ask...)..I can't go outside in the summer except to the library...it sucks....all because that they think that there are sexual predators looking for me...not when it's 3 PM with hundreds of people roaming about....

Of course you know what stood out to me in all of that... "another heritage".

Best way to get revenge on all of this is to bring a guy of "another heritage" home for dinner. There's nothing like a Guess Who's Coming to Dinner Moment. In fact, marry him first then bring him home.

That'll show 'em. :-)

No , it's not fair. I remember being a teenager and wishing for freedom. But, now I am a parent of a teenager. I see the way people look at her and the way the guys, young and old, eye her. It's horrible. She is only 14 and looks much older.

It's not that I don't trust my daughter...it's the other people I don't trust. Just because there are lots of people around does not mean that you are safe. It only take seconds for someone to grab you and people are so afraid of getting involved and being sued that they don't want to do anything.

I'm sorry, I know this is not the answer you were looking for. And I definatly can see both sides of the story. But, as a parent, i know that I could never forgive myself if I let my daughter out and somthing happened to her.

Yeah cuz girls can get pregnant and guys cant!............
and more things happen to girls rather then guys!

For the girls who are saying its unfair......... I actually think tis really fair! I mean yes we dont get privliages but I mean come on. Think about all the STUFF that could happen especially being a girl. Wouldnt you rather avoid getting raped, kidnapped and killed?? or would you rather stay inside and stay safe and learn from it! Id go with the second choice....my mom still is over protective but when we grow up i think we will be gratful for what our RENTS are doing now :) Im glad my mother doesnt let me hang out in the streets and stuff....... its not safe Especially for girls like us. Our rents were teenagers once, they know the ups and downs they've been thru it so i think they pretty much know their daughters well enough to know what dangers they can get in too. So repsect ur rents cuz they are a huge part of us growing up :)

On your overall question.... yes, I do think it is fair. The reasoning, being that with teenage boys not being as "restricted" as you like to put it, they actually become more dangerous... or should I say, they have more of a chance to get into trouble (trust me, I know). However, I do not think it is right that they not even allow you to go out during the summer, except to the library. Reasoning.... why would you be going to the Library during the summer??? I know it's not for studying... since you aren't in school during the summer (well unless going to summer school).

Overall no, it's not fair; however, that is the world we live in.

When you even have the time to think about this, you're already are selfish and are close minded. The reason why we have this so called "double standard" is because when boys go out, the worst thing they can do is do drugs or get laid but for girls, it's doing drugs or getting raped and if so, the girl will be stuck with that baby. So it's your call.

My aunt constantly says that her 3 boys have been greater hassle-free than her 2 ladies as youngsters, the boys have been in a position too do there very own factor collectively as the ladies weren't in a position too date, or bypass too partys and so on. Plus she stated there PMS drove her up the wall lol.

The reason is more important rather than the fairness...my husband and i have a 6 year old boy and plan to have another child soon. We already know we will be much stricter and more protective if we have a girl. Its just that way.

It really isnt fair at all. Studies have proven that girls mature faster than boys so I think that strictness should be based on the maturity of the person.

my teenage son is all kinds of restricted. if he were a she i don't think there is anything additional that i would restrict. you'll always feel more restricted than others because you don't really know what goes on in their home, but even if they have more freedoms just be happy your parents care enough to set those rules to protect you. you'll appreciate it when you're older, i wish i had been restricted MORE than i was.

It may not be fair, but it is necessary. Teenage boys are horny little devils. I know girls can be too, but I don't think boys can control their urges as well.

I can think of few things more dangerous to a teenage girl than a horny little teenage boy.
