I'm trying to recover from anorexia. My last period was at the end of June, and I'm afraid of what can happen next. I know that eating more will make me a healthier person, even if I do get heavier. Being 83 pounds at age 15 is not good, so I'm trying to convince myself to eat more. I get hungry but I tell myself I'm not and eat small amounts at mealtimes. No snacking at all. If you've ever recovered from anorexia, are you glad you're better and was it difficult for you to overcome the "guilt feeling" every time you ate? Is the guilt I'm feeling for resolving to eat more normal? I used to think that if I ever became famous, I would want people to see me as a very, very thin person. But, if I were to be too thin, I don't want to send out a negative message to other girls.

83 lbs is wayy too skinny. you should try increasing your food intake bit by bit every day. my 12 year old cousin weighs the same as you now! so it's obviously not too healthy to weigh what you weigh now. you should try incresing your weight to 120-125 lbs. I weigh 122 lbs, i'm 16 and my friends all think i'm too skinny. so there you go.

I have never been anorexic. My best friend through high school and collage was. She was down to 85 pounds at 5 feet 7 inches tall. Today she is married to an awesome man, and the mother of three healthy children. She's also now a therapist working with children who have learning disabilities. She used to talk a lot about feeling guilty and I didn't understand why. I can tell you that she didn't recover on her own. She went through a lot of therapy. I also remember that she told me there were a lot of "volunteer types" who weren't sincere, nor knowledgeable about anorexia. Don't let them turn you off from getting profesional help. You are guilty of nothing but being sick. DEFINATELY see a doctor about your period. At your weight of 83 lbs, you will be able to get quite a bit heavier and still not be overweight be any means. You can recover from this, but you have to start now. You can do this. Good luck!

I'm glad you finally asked for help. If you haven't had your period since June, it's a sign that your body is not functioning well anymore. From what you're saying, you want to look thin when you become famous. Is this really what drives you to be thin? Or there is another reason, such as your friend is more popular and she is thinner than you etc..You can't live somebody else's live just by being physically the same shape as they are. How many tall beautiful women do not end up in catwalk or beauty pageant?
Stop trying to be someone else. If you are not famous, so what you will not die. Love yourself before loving anyone else. In your case, you need to do that FAST.
I am just average person and my job sucks, but I live and enjoy what I have. It's OK if you want to be famous and thin, but why don';t you be famous first then thin yourself? Don't do it now before you are up there because you need all the strength and health to keep up with the hardwork to achieve success.

Just try and eat healthy foods. You'll feel good, not guilty, about eating them since they are doing good things for your body. Instead of "no snacks", snack on something like fruit when you are hungry rather than strave yourself. Chances are, you will gain more weight, but I highly doubt you'll ever get fat just because you ate a snack. You'll look healthy and people like others who look healthy.

You have admitted that this is not good for you, now ask for help.

You shouldn't deny yourself little pleasures such as snacks-and there are healthy snacks that will not make you blow up into a balloon.

When you get a healthier perspective about yourself, you need to learn to cook healthy meals for yourself.

you should eat, you have to for life. Just eat healthy and balanced. Besides, women who are too skinny, like supermodels and such, are disgusting because of all their ribs showing even fully clothed. I don't know why society would want those twigs to portray beauty.

There's a huge difference between being thin and being attractive. Not being able to see your ribs in the mirror doesn't make you fat. You have to remember that you're striving to be beautiful, and, quite simply, skeletons aren't.
