Give the baby some juice apple grape and prune work the best. You could also try to massage the babies belly and rotate the babies legs up to her stomach like she is riding a bicycle.
Good luck!!

Is she breast feeding? That cows milk can be very constipating. I realize that she has twins and they may be difficult to breast feed. There is a baby enema on the market called baby lax. it works really well. After that, I would change the baby's milk, and make sure they eat plenty of fruits and veggies.
Have they been recently prescribed antibiotics? The doctor gave my daughter some antibiotics. (she is two years old) They gave her diarrhea and killed all of her good bacteria that lives in the intestines. After this she became constipated and was scared to boo boo because it hurt. We are still coaching her 6 months later.

The child's diet is deficient in Magnesium. You almost cannot even overdose on it. The GI tract absorbs what it needs, then eliminates the rest, causing stools be looser if too much is ingested. Ask your pediatrician, although he'll probably tell you you're full of it...lol. This is true, though. I have taken Magnesium myself and can adjust as needed. Hope this helps. The diet is probably too high in iron, believe it or not, children accumulate it. I would back off the Poly vi sol with iron!

My son suffered from constipation constantly as an infant. His doctor suggested putting KARO dark syrup in the milk or formula he was drinking. It helped to naturally loosen the bowels. Just put 1/2 oz to 8 oz. milk or formula. We also used simethicone drops. AND occasionally suppositories.

being only 5 months old i wouldn't give them juice... especially being colicy. what worked with my son was a suppository (they have baby laxatives in the drugstores, if they are still very tiny, just break the suppository in half) you just insert it in their tiny bums and hold it there for about 5-15 minutes and viola!! end of constipation!
