Much of this information is given in Nunitak's Weather Blog:
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-7dNzZV06cpnGmuKQRUwj0WV6Ig--?cq=1
All previous articles apply, so start at the beginning, you can read it all in about two hours or less if you are a sharpie. If you go to the List View, look for the small blue letters, you can easily start at the beginning.
The articles are short, I try to be lucid and concise.
Otherwise, for a short answer, the oceans are somewhat warmer, owing to global heating.
The effects are even more pronounced for the Polar Bears.
There will be more rain and floods as well as droughty conditions in the near term.
Burning less fossil fuels will mitigate the problem; New Energy will solve it. My blog gives many pointers for things you can do, even as an ordinary citizen. Every little bit helps, never doubt!
Some minimal understanding of high school physics is helpful though.
The Blog Roll is a list of urls on the left which should prove interesting.

Strong El Nino year. It's supposed to be ending soon, so perhaps the weather will be getting back towards "normal." Most of the US is in for a cold snap through this weekend.
Check out http://www.cpc.noaa.gov to check out the climate outlooks and for info about El Nino.

maximum folk agree that southern California has the excellent climate in terms of temperature fluctuations. they have no loopy storms and that's often advantageous outdoors. There are additionally a great form of smaller cities in that section. Drawbacks: it quite is high priced to stay there and that they do get greater earthquakes than the different portion of the US.
